White Hills, NYC’s cult duo featured in Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive, craft a hypnotic fusion of neo-psychedelia, art rock, and darkwave. Founded by Dave W and Ego Sensation, their sound pulses with Gotham’s rock & roll spirit. Their 2025 album Drop Out III (Thrill Jockey) charted in the UK and was hailed by Backseat Mafia as “a benchmark in contemporary psychedelia.” Just months earlier, their 2024 release Beyond This Fiction earned four-star reviews from Mojo and Record Collector and was named one of the year’s best by Complex Distractions.
Pink Mountaintops, the project of Black Mountain’s Stephen McBean, channels his eclectic influences into a brighter, more playful counterpart to his main band. Since their 2004 debut, the group has blended lo-fi psych-rock with Americana, pop, and vintage electronics. Their 2022 album Peacock Pools—the first in eight years—draws inspiration from cultural touchstones as varied as Cronenberg films, Disney records, Gary Numan, and Camille Paglia, while featuring collaborators like Steven McDonald (Redd Kross) and Dale Crover (Melvins). The result is a kaleidoscopic sound that transforms McBean’s obsessions into strange, engaging, and expansive music.
