Justice Cow is an indie rock band from Providence, RI fronted by Jessica Kion. Her music spans the edges of sparking delicate folk to explosive cathartic rock. Jess’ songs speak to loss and love and always include an invitation to sing along. Justice Cow released “Live at Big Nice Studio” on July 14th. The band is writing and playing extensively through the Fall before heading back to the studio to record their next album. When Jess isn’t on the road, she is heavily involved in the Providence music community mentoring students at New Urban Arts, teaching a songwriting workshop at Brown University, and collaborating with all of your favorite musicians.
Kira Metcalf is here for a long time, not a good time. Blending poetic lyricism with dynamic vocals, Metcalf’s songwritingexamines the agonizing contradictions of sexuality, womanhood, grief, and late stage capitalism. Like the compulsive urge to pick a scab, her music lures you into emotional landscapes that, though frightening to look at, are impossible to turn away from.
Honeycrush is the solo project of New York singer-songwriter and poet Alexandra Antonopoulos. Characterized by evocative storytelling and raw, emotive vocals, Honeycrush blurs the edges of alternative and indie rock drawing on the influences of ‘90s permawave artists like Fiona Apple, Nirvana, PJ Harvey, and Jeff Buckley.
On her debut EP MILK TEETH, Antonopoulos tries to reconcile the relationship between pain and growth, and instead of turning away from her flaws and worst days, takes a microscope to them. Obsessive longing, embittered grief, impotent rage, and the relentless pursuit of self-improvement are inescapable realities that Antonopoulos refuses to condemn.
